  • – Before purchasing and installing an engine valve lifter, make sure it is the correct size and fit for your vehicle.
  • – Have your vehicle inspected as soon as possible if the 'Service Engine Soon' light illuminates.
  • – Have your vehicle inspected immediately if the 'Service Engine Soon' light flashes rapidly, as this could indicate an engine misfire condition which may damage your engine and/or engine emission components.
  • – If a tapping sound occurs in the engine, have it checked - it could be a sign of a faulty lifter and lead to excessive damage to engine components.
  • – Keep engine oil level full.
  • – Keep the coolant level full and do not allow the engine to overheat - excessive heat could cause the lifter to expand and stick.
  • – Regularly inspect engine valve lifter for signs of damage or wear, and replace them if signs of damage are found.
