The Motorcraft Air Temperature Sensor Assembly uses a thermistor air temperature sensor that reacts to temperature changes in the air entering the engine induction system with changes in electrical resistance - telling the engine control module to adjust the fuel/air mixture for optimal combustion performance.
The Sensor also works with the vehicle's electronics system to actuate an instrument panel warning light that alerts the driver should engine air intake temperature become too high.
