They increase safety in the dark and are now present in almost all vehicle classes. A xenon headlamp consists of the gas discharge lamp, the xenon ballast and the reflection or projection system. The ballast unit is needed to operate the xenon lamps. Several control and safety circuits are integrated in the unit. A defective ballast results in a total failure of the headlamp. Ignition module: Among other things, the different versions comply with different limit values regarding electromagnetic compatibility. The main differences between the 3rd and 4th grade are as follows: Xenon generation are an igniter with or without metal shielding and the cable group between ballast and igniter, which is designed with or without shielding.
